Summary

In 2026, the Armenian cultural and spiritual community marks the 350th anniversary of the birth of Mekhitar of Sebastia, the founder of the Mekhitarist Congregation, whose legacy has played a significant role in preserving and promoting Armenian cultural, educational, and spiritual heritage.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Izmirlian Foundation supports the VARDPET NGO in organizing commemorative cultural events dedicated to this important milestone.

A central highlight of the initiative is the performance of the “Divine Liturgy” composed by Komitas Vardapet for mixed choir, representing one of the remarkable works of Armenian sacred music.

Through this initiative, the Foundation contributes to the preservation and promotion of Armenia’s rich spiritual and musical traditions, while honoring the enduring legacy of Mekhitar of Sebastia and Komitas Vardapet.
