Since 2014, the Izmirlian Medical Center - the largest philanthropic healthcare investment in Armenia - has played a transformative role in advancing access to quality medical care. Each year, the Center delivers over 220,000 outpatient consultations and 7,000 inpatient treatments, serving thousands of patients with excellence and compassion.

Established through the initiative of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, with the anchor funding of the Izmirlian Foundation and in collaboration with Louis Simone Manoogian, the Center is currently one of Armenia’s leading healthcare institutions. Beyond the high-quality clinical services, it remains deeply committed to improving lives through targeted social and humanitarian programs.

Expanding Access to Healthcare for vulnerable populations

  • Refugee and Repatriation Support: Since 2017, nearly 1,000 Armenian refugees from Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq and other countries in crisis have received critical healthcare assistance upon resettling in Armenia co-financed by the IF.
  • Care for the Wounded: Since 2018, more than 560 wounded soldiers and officers have benefited from free, high-quality medical treatment co-financed by the Foundation.
  • Support for Displaced Families: Since 2021, approximately 10,400 displaced individuals from Artsakh have accessed free healthcare, co-financed by the Izmirlian Foundation including within the programs implemented in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration.

Responding to Crisis

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, over 2,000 frontline healthcare workers were equipped with essential personal protective equipment (PPE) through partnerships with the World Food Programme, Armenian General Benevolent Union, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and other key partners.
  • In collaboration with the Arabkir Medical Center, COVID-19 prevention and treatment support was also provided to 150 children and staff at the Marie Izmirlian Orphanage.

Strengthening Specialized Healthcare

  • Every year, more than 10,000 patients with complex hematological and oncological conditions, including those with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), benefit from advanced diagnostic services at the Hematology Center after Prof. R.H. Yeolyan.
  • Through the continued support of the Izmirlian Foundation and in partnership with the City of Smile Foundation, four children with blood cancer each year from socially disadvantaged families receive life-saving treatment free of charge – bringing the total number of children supported to 19 and growing.
