Summary

Since the 1990s, the Izmirlian Foundation has supported the gradual transformation of the Yerevan State University Library through investments in reconstruction, technical modernization, academic resources and the learning environment. Building on this long-term partnership, the current improvement project seeks transform the YSU Sarkis and Marie Izmirlian Library into a modern, flexible and inclusive academic environment that responds to the evolving needs of students, academics and researchers inspired by leading European university libraries.

The project aims to create spaces for individual and collaborative learning, research, discussion and events; expand access to print and digital resources; and, in the longer term, establish the Library as an accessible 24/7 academic and social environment at the heart of university life.

The Foundation’s long-term support has contributed to the reconstruction and technical modernization of the Library and the strengthening of its academic resources and learning environment. The ongoing transformation is creating the basis for the Library to evolve beyond its traditional role as a repository of books into a dynamic space for learning, research, collaboration, dialogue and community engagement.

Around 18,000 students and academic staff annually are enabled with access to the reconstructed Yerevan State University Library.
