Trauma Injury Response Training for Border Communities in Syunik

Completed
Syunik villagers trained in trauma care

Summary

The project strengthened the emergency preparedness of residents of remote border communities in Syunik by providing practical trauma-response training and essential first-aid equipment. The training was based on the U.S. Department of Defense’s Stop the Bleed program and was particularly relevant for communities where emergency responders may take an hour or more to arrive.

Five training sessions were conducted in May 2023, with 142 residents from 23 villages completing the training. Participants included nurses, first responders, administrators, teachers, students and farmers. Participants received hands-on training in trauma response and were provided with trauma first-aid packs and bilingual completion certificates.
